Description

There seems to be a persistent divide in the industry between “design” and “construction” as if the two were mutually exclusive. The divide can be a recipe for disappointment, missed environmental performance, costly upkeep, or, worse, project failure. This panel will explore ways to improve outcomes and practice opportunities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review current industry trends and practices that challenge effective landscape architectural roles during construction.
  • Understand the critical role construction oversight plays in performances-based design and how to leverage this understanding to expand the landscape architect’s role during the building process.
  • Learn how to engage "construction thinking” to improve project outcomes during all phases of design, construction, and post-construction.
  • Explore expanded practice opportunities focused on providing improved construction services, including peer reviews, construction management, and the owner’s representative services.
