Our nation’s infrastructure is exhausted. Improving streetscapes can be daunting or overpowered by others, yet landscape architects add value to these improvements. This session provides hands-on experience into the ASLA Method, a comprehensive approach to implementing green, complete, and smart streets, born from ASLA’s Chinatown Green Street Demonstration Project.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how to measure and communicate the environmental, economical, community, artistic benefits of green and complete streets.
  • Experience, first hand, how the ASLA Method can become the necessary guide in developing a sustainable street environment in any given community with a variety of budgets.
  • Learn how various decision making outcomes and advances in policy and codes are possible through green streets.
  • Recognize the value in analyzing each block of a corridor in developing context sensitive and authentic solution throughout the ASLA method.
