Description

The craftsmen and artists who work with wood bring a unique quality to landscape projects by their unmatched knowledge of timber as a medium. This session will present the work and knowledge of three timber specialists, from obtaining material through urban forestry and salvaging to carpentry and finishes for lasting quality.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the ins and outs of landscape architect and carpenter/craftsmen collaboration.
  • Learn how to create designs for furniture and site features that accommodate the unpredictable quality and size of salvage and urban forest material.
  • Appreciate the treatment and schedule requirements to successfully work with salvaged timber.
  • Hear how the narrative of milling site-salvaged wood wins over the client every time.
