Description

!melk is a dynamic, internationally recognized landscape architecture and urban design firm specializing in the creation of highly experiential public spaces as well as large-scale urban interventions. Founder Jerry van Eyck will address his firm's growing reputation for a refined focus on context, identity, strong narrative, pragmatism, and detail.

Learning Objectives:

  • Re-evaluate landscape architects as orchestrators of economic development and arbiters of change, and thereby address the strengths or weaknesses of our own design approach.
  • Appreciate a poetic narrative-based design methodology that produces engineered solutions rooted in the context of the site: history, geology, culture, and economics.
  • Draw inspiration from an interdisciplinary design team, which, by blending skills and attitudes, generates fresh perspectives to reveal hidden opportunities and produce truly unique designs.
  • Learn how a project's resilience is measured by economic, social, and programmatic sustainability.
