Brian is a certified arborist, with a qualified applicators license, serving CSULB for over 27 years. He supervises a staff of 48 department employees and oversees the implementation of the Landscape Master Plan. The campus spans ~322 acres with over 7000 trees, encompassing a multitude of old growth groves. Brian manages the protection, maintenance, and replacement of the university’s urban forest. He is currently utilizing a variety of techniques to battle multiple pests and diseases exacerbated by recent drought conditions. He also champions the landscape portion of the university’s water action plan; renovating high water use planting into sustainable landscape.
