Travis Beck has made a career of the design and management of plant-filled public landscapes. As Superintendent of Parks for the City of Santa Cruz, California he oversees all aspects of the care and development of 1,700 acres of parks, open spaces, and urban forest. At Mt. Cuba Center in Delaware he supervised ongoing landscape management and spearheaded the creation of a site master plan. At the New York Botanical Garden he managed landscape construction projects large and small. Travis is the author of Principles of Ecological Landscape Design, which applies scientific principles to the creation of successful, sustainable landscapes.
