Photographer and pilot Alex MacLean documents landscapes while flying with handheld cameras. Trained as an architect at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, his work portrays the history and evolution of the land, recording changes brought about by human intervention and natural processes, and revealing the relationship between the natural and built environments. MacLean’s photographs have been exhibited internationally, and are found in private, public, and university collections. He has won numerous awards, including the CORINE International Book Award for OVER: The American Landscape at the Tipping Point and the American Academy of Rome’s Prix de Rome in Landscape Architecture.
