Mario Schjetnan FASLA

Director, Grupo de Diseno Urbano

Mexican architect and landscape architect, Mario Schjetnan is known for designs that celebrate landscape over architecture and join social issues with aesthetics and ecology, while celebrating the rich and diverse culture of Mexico. Co-founder of the interdisciplinary firm Grupo de Diseño Urbano in Mexico City, Mario’s designs subordinate buildings to the landscape and acknowledge the power of both individual memory and public history in the making of “metropolitan ecology.” Mario’s many awards include the Prince of Wales/Green Prize in Urban Design, the ASLA President's Award for Excellence. In 2015, the IFLA presented him with the prestigious Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award.
