Dr. Na'Taki Osborne Jelks

Dr. Na’Taki Osborne Jelks is an Assistant Professor in the Environmental & Health Sciences Program at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia and Co-Founder of the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance (WAWA). WAWA is a community-based organization of residents in West Atlanta communities who are overburdened with environmental stressors but are often underrepresented at environmental decision-making tables. WAWA was established as result of community efforts to halt discriminatory wastewater treatment practices in Southwest Atlanta and has grown to become an impactful force in community-centered sustainable development. Jelks served on the Chattahoochee RiverLands Study design team; focusing on equity and environmental justice analyses.
