Professor of Landscape Architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Dr. Milburn researches issues related to sustainability, water quality and quantity, energy consumption and the energy-water nexus, active and alternate transportation, human capacity through outdoor physical activity, land conservation and stewardship, and physical design’s impact on the urban heat island (and related problems). Her other primary area of research is specific to landscape architecture: the research culture of landscape architecture, relationship between research and design, and distributing and communicating research to the design professions. Dr. Milburn has a B.F.A., and M.L.A. and a Ph.D. in Rural Studies-Environmental Design and Rural Development.
