Applied Wildlife Equity: Just Design with the Living World - 1.25 PDH (LA CES/HSW)

For over two decades, Aiman’s work has focused on the planning and design of living systems that enhance and regenerate ecological, social, and cultural vitality. At regional, city, neighborhood, and site scales, Aiman contributes intellectual leadership in biodiversity and habitat connectivity, environmental justice, and climate resiliency. He brings a scienced-based expertise in geospatial modeling, biodiversity metrics, and ecosystem service quantification. In his collaborations, Aiman recognizes the need for right relations and reciprocity between land, water, humans, and our more-than-human relatives. He leads Biohabitats’ focus in working in service with Indigenous nations, supporting sovereignty and rematriation.

Robert Rock has over twenty years of experience leading projects across the continental United States, working at every scale of design and project management. Raised on a rural Iowa family farm, he brings a deep-rooted pragmatism and resourcefulness to complex infrastructure and landscape challenges. In 2010, while at MVVA, Rock led the winning team in the ARC International Wildlife Crossing Competition, earning global recognition for innovative wildlife connectivity design. Through Rock Design Associates, he continues advancing landmark crossings and connectivity work nationwide, including the world’s largest wildlife crossing, the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing north of Los Angeles.

Kelly Finkowski, ASLA, PLA, an Associate at Dig Studio, is passionate about creating meaningful nature experiences within urban environments. Her work includes playground and park design, park master planning, habitat restoration, green infrastructure, and cultural landscapes, with an emphasis on biodiversity, habitat connectivity, and community-centered design. At Dig Studio she played key roles on the Heron Pond Master Plan and City Park Nature Play projects which both received ASLA Colorado Awards for their approach to habitat restoration, community engagement, and equitable access.
